INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGENERATING BMC AIR FILTERS

The regeneration of a BMC filter, a procedure we recommend
performing approximately every 20-25,000 kilometers, aims to
remove impurities from the filtering surface so that it can be
used for the entire lifespan of the vehicle in which it is installed.

WASHING THE BMC AIR FILTER

1) Remove the filter from the airbox with the engine cold,
first gear engaged, and keys removed from the ignition.

2) Once the filter is removed, gently tap the polyurethane
structure against a rigid surface to remove larger impurities
(grass, gravel, insects, etc.), taking care not to damage the
filtering element.

3) Clean any impurities from the airbox.

4) Place the filter in a container and pour the detergent
(WADET500) over the filtering element, using approximately half
of the bottle.

5) Let the detergent act for 20/30 minutes.

6) Rinse the filter thoroughly and very gently on both sides
using water until the filtering element looks clean (it is
recommended to use a common garden hose equipped with a spray
gun with jet adjustment).

7) The cotton that makes up the filtering element will not be
perfectly white again, but it is enough to check for the absence
of impurities or dirty oil residue against the light.

8) If there are still impurities or oil in the filter after washing,
it is necessary to repeat the operation.

9) Let the filter air dry outdoors without exposing it to direct
sunlight: the filter is dry when it no longer releases any water
or moisture.

10) Dispose of the dirty water used to wash the filter by taking
it to a suitable landfill.

RE-OILING THE BMC AIR FILTER USING THE BOTTLE
(WAFLU250)

1) Make a "V" shaped cut at the tip of the bottle and insert the
tip into the bottle itself.

2) Place the tip on the first pleat of the filtering element:
proceed to re-oil only one side of the filter, applying slight
pressure to facilitate oil flow (continuous action). (Recommended
to avoid oil deposits).

3) Once the operation is complete, wait until the oil is
completely absorbed; you can check this by verifying the
uniformity of the red color on both sides of the filtering element.

4) Wipe the area with a clean cotton cloth to remove any excess
oil that may remain on the polyurethane and on the support mesh.

RE-OILING THE BMC AIR FILTER USING SPRAY OIL (WAFLU200)

1) Apply the sprayed oil evenly to both sides of the filtering
element.

WARNINGS

When re-oiling the filter, it is necessary to first wash the filter
following the procedure indicated above; also ensure that there are
no impurities or dirty oil residue on the filtering element.

For information on the quantities of oil to use, refer to the
specific section on the BMC website: the filtering element may
release too much oil and damage the flow sensor; too little oil
may not guarantee adequate protection against impurities.
